Work In Progress. "Q"/SucQbus/ Mistress of the Netherworld belongs to me

Oh well, didn't win the comp but that's how it goes right? Still trying to get some more art goodies done but it honestly feels like one thing or another keeps me from doing it/going as far as I like. Oh well gotta keep trying.  I'll probably post some of my anatomy notes in my next entry because I really enjoy them.

I want to really start considering doing a small artbook much like the ones seen in Comic Con by Adam Hughes and J.Scott Campbell. I have an idea for one and will probably post some of the pencils/inks here until I can find out more info on how to selfpublish one. Which also gave me thoughts on another side project. One small enough to complete.

The Kotaku AU competition gave me the idea of a sort of Dante's Inferno for those in the gaming world. I already thought of two levels: One for those who mistreat their consoles and another for those who maliciously hack(not pirates or homebrew but just mean bastards who ruin everyone elses good time) . I need to come up with 5 more and the illustrations that go with them. It'll be a fun and short project.

on completely unrelated notes, I highly recommend watching "Dear Zachary" and "For the Bible Tells me so" both are beautiful documentaries

Nerves

So since I last made an entry I have acquired a part time job at a lovely boutique. I'm still looking for some artistically inclined side work as well to make sure I keep my skills up and make sure I have enough for classes. I'll be starting soon and I'm positively nervous, hopefully it'll give me some opportunities to draw from life.

On the subject of drawing I thought I'd share some photos of various artbooks I have, these currently are the ones immediately by my desk. I have tons more on my bookshelves and can't wait to get more.

First is one of my favorite old world painters, James Tissot. He does the most breathtaking images a middle to high class Victorian women. I Love how he painted fabrics and Japanese textiles the most. I hope I can learn to emulate his craftsman ship. My second favorite old world painter is Alphonse Muccha but sadly I have no books featuring his work.
Next is the art for the new American Mcgee's Alice game, Alice the madness returns. The artwork is stunning and surreal, and while it is gory it's still amazing.
This Red Sonja compilation is awesome since it's packed with lots of amazing comic book artists, especially my personal hero Adam Hughes.
I'm sure I mentioned that I'm trying to go into comics/graphic novels so I gotta study up! These two books I have now are great and I need to grab the others I'm missing.
I have a number of Japanese artists and how to books, this one I had to get because it featured two of my favorite manga-kas: Kaoru Mori and CHOCO.
I did say Adam Hughes is my hero right? I have almost all of his sketchbooks, just a few are missing and maybe next year I'll have my own sketchbook out to sell. Not shown is my massive catwoman poster, and a few other things by him.
I love Oyari Ashito's watercolor style
Lastly is my Lolita artbook, it contains many great artists and designers from Japan, including Imai Kira, the designer for Angelic Pretty. The book features tons of tutorials and how tos
Sorceress belongs to Vanillaware/Dragons Crown. Art is by me, Quatra Lopez
During E3, Vanillaware announced it's new 4player game Dragons Crown which is a hark back to old Sword and Sorcery themed games. I really like their style so I intend on drawing more from the series and preorder the game.

Excited

Pictured: OCs belonging to myself and Jamie Watt, art by me. Done in Digital Painting class. Starting from Thumbnail sketch to finished work

So with Prometheus alive and kicking, I've started on some things on my list to complete and give apology sketches for being so late. Though in wonderful news someone has given me a job interview which I hope with all my heart I get because the money and experience are needed extremely. So wish me luck everyone!

Worries and Prometheus

I had originally planned to start off my break from school with getting lots of other things in order and completed, such as dealing with Financial Aid, Grants and such. Things which I'm quite scared off to be honest when my old computer's HDD died on me. With it being such an old model it went from just getting a new HDD to in the end having to get a new PC all together. After we purchased some bits and took parts from others, Prometheus was created.

This is quite a monster to be frank, the case I was given dwarfs the old one and has a massive red eye and a tiny blue one. I could go on about the specks but thats not the point. Though it is living up to it's namesake, the rig "attacked" my younger brother who assembled it by ripping out some of his hair. Hopefully my new behemoth will last me for a long long time. Still all the money spent, while obviously being worthwhile was still a lot.

I'm hoping that now since the new rig is up and running and everything is installed again, I can get back to my previous plans. Here's hoping! Wish me luck everyone

Further testing

This blog probably won't be active until sometime in late May/ early June, when my current classes end and I'll be out for summer break. Until then please check out a few recent finds I found on the internet
